1082. To ask the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine whether there is a compensation scheme available for farmers who suffered losses during the recent storms, including loss of stock, destruction of land by landslides, collapsed bridges, damaged culverts, etc.; and if he will make a statement on the matter. At present the Department does not have funding allocated or schemes of supports planned for farmers with damage linked to the recent period of poor weather.
In cases where damage to buildings results from storms or weather events, property insurance is the normal primary avenue for assistance or compensation.
