898. To ask the Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection whether there are any rental stipulations for a community organisation seeking to apply for the workplace adaptation grant; whether the grant can be used to pay retrospectively for any assessment required to formulate a quote; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The Workplace Adaptation support is one of seven supports under Work and Access, which aims to remove or reduce barriers in the workplace for people with disabilities.

The guidelines state that this support is designed for people with a disability who require modifications to their workplace to enable them to get or stay in a job. Many employers operate from premises that are rented or leased. Therefore, there is no requirement for the business premises to be owned by the employer in order to qualify for this grant.

However, grants under Work and Access cannot be used to pay retrospectively for any of the supports or for any assessment required to formulate a quote.

I trust this clarifies the matter for the Deputy.
