35. To ask the Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment to clarify the statutory basis on which the just transition commission is established; and to outline the staffing and resources that have been assigned to it. [45454/24]

The Just Transition Commission is an advisory body established on an administrative basis by Government Decision of 30 April 2024. The chair and members of the Just Transition Commission were appointed by the Government on 22 October 2024 on the recommendation of the Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications, in line with the Commission’s Terms of Reference.
The Commission will support the Government in its responsibility to provide that Ireland’s transition to the National Climate Objective has regard to the requirement for a just transition. The Commission will provide impartial, strategic, and evidence-based advice to inform policy planning related to just transition across different sectors. Delivering a just transition to climate neutrality remains the responsibility of the Government and relevant Ministers
Membership of the Just Transition Commission comprises five representatives from the five pillars of social dialogue, together with individuals with expertise in a range of relevant disciplines including human rights and equality, skills development, rural and community development, social inclusion, the green economic transition, and youth perspectives.
The Commission will be chaired by Ali Sheridan and its membership is as follows:
