1314. To ask the Minister for Education and Skills further to Parliamentary Questions Nos. 838 to 841 of 18 September 2024, where he stated that ‘to be eligible to apply for competitive research funding from national funding agencies, higher education institutions must comply with timelines set out by the HEA for engagement with the Athena Swan Ireland charter’, if he will confirm that Athena Swan Ireland Charter principles are not mandatory intellectual instructions that institutes and the academics within them are compelled to affirm; if he will further confirm that academics who employ intellectual perspectives that diverge from, or contest the Athena Swan Ireland Charter principles, will not be disadvantaged, or subject to less favourable treatment in applications for research funding, career progression or any other academic activities; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
