To ask the Minister for Housing, Planning, and Local Government if the public sector sick leave scheme has been extended to cover those employed in the retained fire service; if the details of the scheme have been circulated to all authorities for implementation; if his Department has received any queries on its implementation from the LGMA; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Local Authority Fire services management and the Local Government Management Agency (LGMA) have continued to engage with SIPTU representatives following on from a Labour Court hearing and Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) agreement in 2023 with regard to the application of a range of policies and the implementation of fortnightly pay to retained firefighters.

The implementation of all elements of the Public Service sick pay scheme is included in these discussions.
