The 2024 Framework Implementation Plan provides for the various options available to existing Local Authority Water Services employees, including reassignment to suitable vacancies in other local authority service areas.
I understand that Kerry County Council, similar to other local authorities, is currently engaging with the representative union in relation to terms and conditions of employment applying to those employees who wish to avail of that option.
Section 159 of the Local Government Act 2001 provides that each Chief Executive is responsible for the staffing and organisational arrangements necessary for carrying out the functions of the local authority for which they are responsible. Therefore, I have no role in the redeployment of former water services personnel within local authorities.
