Investment in water and waste water services in the State is delivered through the national utility, Uisce Éireann.

The National Development Plan 2021-2030 provided for over €243 million funding over the period 2021 to 2025 for non-Uisce Éireann investment in rural water infrastructure and services.

My Department’s Multi-Annual Rural Water Rural Water Programme (MARWP) is the main funding stream providing this funding. A core purpose of the Programme is to provide the necessary funding to improve the quality, reliability and efficiency of water services for rural dwellers.

I can confirm that, in 2016, my Department approved funding under the MARWP for a Community Waste Water Connection at the location referred to in the Question.

I understand that Kerry County Council has not progressed this project.

The responsibility for the implementation of the MARWP is devolved to individual local authorities and in each there is a Rural Water Liaison Officer who is responsible for the day to day administration of projects. For further information on the issue, the officer can be contacted at Kerry County Council.
