The Government through the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research Innovation and Science remains fully committed to the delivery of the PPP Bundle 2. This commitment to the PPP programme has been carried through into the current National Development Plan 2018-2027.
There are five projects in Bundle 2, two at SETU campuses of Waterford and Carlow, TUS Limerick, ATU Galway and Letterkenny.
A final tender for Bundle 2 was received in March of this year, and the procurement is now moving to Financial Close. Upon a satisfactory conclusion of this vital last element of the procurement process, construction is expected to commence in Q1 2025. Construction durations for the five Bundle 2 projects vary across the facilities from 26 months to 36 months.
The new engineering, computing and general teaching building at the SETU Waterford Campus is the largest project in the Higher Education PPP Programme and has an expected construction period of 36 months.
It is therefore envisaged that all projects in Bundle 2 will be complete in Q1 2028.
