My Department conducts advertising and communications campaigns to promote a range of services, supports and initiatives to the public and to support positive behaviour change in relation to key areas under the remit of my Department.
As the media landscape has evolved over the past number of years, advertising and creative expenditure has grown to address the diverse needs of different audiences, including costs associated with achieving national reach for important public messages. Achieving this reach may require utilising a variety of platforms to reach national audiences, including outdoor advertising, national and local radio and print, television, digital channels, and social media. Advertising expenditure has also grown to ensure that we are meeting our Irish language requirements under the Official Languages (Amendment) Act 2021.
The majority of my Department’s advertising is procured via a media buying agency, and the weighting assigned to each platform is determined by target audience, best practice, and securing value for money. We also work with creative agencies to develop content for a variety of platforms.
The details and expenditure to date of campaigns in relation to my Department are outlined in the table below.
