449. To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Justice and Equality is she aware that the community prison links service is operating on the exact same funding levels from 2002 to present date and that this is unsustainable and has resulted in services propping up this service from their core funding, which has further implications for its core services (details supplied); if she will increase core funding to operate the community prison links service; and if she will make a statement on the matter. I propose to take Questions Nos. 438 and 449 together.
In response to the Deputy, my Department acts simply as a conduit for these organisations which are funded by the Department of Health. My Department has no role in monitoring the projects, dealing with funding requests or looking at any of their day-to-day activities.
Therefore, the question of an increase in funding to meet WRC commitments is a matter for the Department of Health.
