Disability Allowance is a weekly allowance paid to people with a specified disability who are aged 16 or over and under the age of 66. This disability must be expected to last for at least one year and the allowance is subject to a medical assessment, means test and Habitual Residency conditions.

Cost of living lump sum payments to people on education courses, such as those raised by the Deputy, are ultimately a matter for the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research Innovation and Science. Weekly allowances for Further Education and Training courses through the Education Training Boards or National Learning Network are normally funded by through the training provider.

When participating on a course the weekly DA payment is stopped where the training provider commences an equivalent weekly payment to the learner. Any secondary allowances or additional payments due to trainees, whilst on these training course, are administered through the training provider.

I trust this clarifies the matter for the Deputy.

Working Family Payment will continue for the person concerned from 17 October 2024.

I trust this clarifies the matter for the Deputy.

Disability Allowance (DA) is a weekly allowance paid to people with a specified disability who are aged 16 or over and under the age of 66. This disability must be expected to last for at least one year and the allowance is subject to a medical assessment, means test and Habitual Residency conditions.

I can confirm that my Department received an application for DA from the person concerned on 25 September 2024.

The person concerned has been awarded DA with effect from 26 June 2024, the date of their sixteenth birthday. Their first payment will be made on 30 October 2024. The person was notified of the decision in writing on 9 October 2024 and of their right to request a review and/or appeal.

Arrears of payment, if due, will issue as soon as possible once any necessary adjustment is calculated and applied in respect of any overlapping payments from other Social Welfare schemes.

I trust this clarifies the matter for the Deputy.
