I propose to take Questions Nos. 114 and 116 together.
My Department, through the National Built Heritage Service (NBHS), provides direct financial assistance for the protection of eligible heritage buildings and historic structures through two grant schemes which are, in the main, administered by the local authorities. These are the Historic Structures Fund (HSF) and the Built Heritage Investment Scheme (BHIS). For 2024 these schemes have a combined budget of €9 million.
Through the National Monuments Service (NMS), my Department also offers the Community Monuments Fund (CMF) for the protection and conservation of archaeological sites. In 2024 the CMF has a budget of €7.4m.
My Department also funds the Historic Towns Initiative (HTI) through the Heritage Council, which provides support for conservation works and planning in historic towns. Total funding allocated to this scheme by the Heritage Council for 2024 came to €1.5m.
While last week's Budget 2025 provided programme- and subhead-level estimates of expenditure for next year, the level funding to be allocated to individual grant schemes has yet to be finalised.
