The Community Sport Facilities Fund (formerly the Sports Capital and Equipment Programme) is the Government's primary vehicle for supporting the development of sports facilities and the purchase of non-personal sports equipment.

As set out in the guide to making an application, which is available on my Department's website, the Fund does not fund hunting, guns, rifles or pistols.

Three of the clubs referred to by the Deputy were allocated grants for equipment for equestrian sports and in the other case, a grant was provided for clay pigeon shooting. One club was also funded to purchase a defibrillator. The above-referenced sports are all recognised by Sport Ireland which is the authority tasked with the development of sport in Ireland.
