The table below summarises the amount that has been spent by the OPW on historian services in 2022, 2023 and to date in 2024

It should be noted however that the OPW employs a number of personnel who are historians or have such qualifications, so much of the necessary historical expertise comes from within the OPW.

The OPW may also occasionally engage historians to provide services to support research, exhibitions, interpretation and publications as part of a contract for other services such as exhibition design. Where this is the case, or where their services are funded through grant-in-aid to a third party bodies, these services will not always be clearly apparent and cannot be readily extracted from our systems as specific historian services.

Year 2022 2023 2024
Spend €12,580 €9,240 €9,841
