My Department receives many items of correspondence every single day and every effort is made to answer the queries in full and provide any assistance that can be provided.
In this case, the person wrote to me asking me to help them access vaginoplasty in Ireland. As this is not a procedure that is currently performed in Ireland, I directed them to the relevant pathway which is the Treatment Abroad Scheme (TAS). This scheme is operated by the HSE and covers the cost of planned treatment (subject to eligibility criteria) in another country in the EU, European Economic Area (EEA), UK or Switzerland.
