Under the Road Safety Authority Act 2006, the Road Safety Authority has statutory responsibility for the National Driver Licence Service, which handles all driving licence enquiries. My Department does not have access to individual driving licence applications and may not intervene in the licence application process.
I have referred this matter to the Authority for direct reply. I would ask the Deputy to contact my office if a response has not been received within ten days.
I would note that Ireland has Driving Licence Exchange agreements with most Canadian provinces. These agreements facilitate exchanges for licence holders but only when the agreed conditions are met.
