The Legal Services Regulatory Authority (LSRA) is the body responsible for the regulation of the legal professions under the provisions of the Legal Services Regulation Act 2015. Subject to the 2015 Act, the Authority shall be independent in the performance of its functions.

Under Section 6 of the Legal Services Regulation Act 2015, the LSRA is, every three years, to commence a review of the operation of the 2015 Act and to make a report to each House of the Oireachtas of its findings and conclusions, including any such recommendations (if any) to the Minister resulting from that review as it considers appropriate.

The Department has been in regular communication with the LSRA on this matter and has been informed that its review of the operation of the Legal Services Regulation Act 2015 is at an advanced stage and due to be submitted to the LSRA Authority in the coming weeks for approval, prior to its submission to the Minister and the Oireachtas very shortly thereafter.
