There is no specific standard or regulation which mandates the testing of compliance with all the elements of EN590 which falls under the remit of the Department of Environment, Climate and Communications. My Department is responsible for overseeing the testing and sampling of fuels as required under the Fuel Quality Directive (as amended). 100 samples of both petrol and diesel are tested each year, 50 in the summer and 50 in the winter, and the results are provided to the EU Commission on an annual basis.
