I was pleased that An Rialálaí Agraibhia was established on 13th of December last year.

The establishment of this body is an initiative that I spearheaded from inception and I was delighted to secure, as a key commitment in the Programme for Government, the provision of an independent regulator for farmers, fishers, growers and other small and medium enterprises in our agri-food supply chain.

An Rialálaí Agraibhia, an independent statutory body and as the matter raised is an operational matter for the State Body concerned and not something that falls within the remit of my Department, I have arranged for the Deputy's question to be forwarded to An Rialálaí Agraibhia.

The Deputy may wish to contact the Regulator through their dedicated e-mail address for Oireachtas queries at

I am satisfied that the Agri Food Regulator is progressing its work in bringing fairness and transparency in the agricultural and food supply chain and that it has regard to the circumstances and needs of in particular farming businesses, fishing businesses and small food businesses.
