454. To ask the Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection if the latest date for lodging an appeal on a social welfare application is based on the date of the original decision or the date of reviewed decision where a review was sought; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The Social Welfare Appeals Office is an Office of the Department of Social Protection which is responsible for determining appeals against decisions in relation to social welfare entitlements. Appeals Officers are independent in their decision making.
I am advised by the Social Welfare Appeals Office that where a review has been sought on a social welfare application, the latest date for lodging an appeal is 21 days from the date of the reviewed decision.
I trust this clarifies the matter for the Deputy.
