In 2021, the Government decided to re-establish an Irish diplomatic presence in Iran. In August 2021 a Chargé d'Affaires was posted to Tehran, joined later by other staff. Ambassador Laoise Moore arrived in Tehran last week and is awaiting a date to present her credentials. The full Embassy team is now in place and the Embassy is in operation.
