Due to apprenticeship courses being national programmes, it is possible for an individual in county Tipperary to do any of the apprenticeship programmes at any given time. Apprentices are registered at the Education and Training Board (ETB) in the region in which their employer is based, not where the apprentice lives. In addition, this does not reflect where off-the-job training is carried out. This is dependent on the training options available in each ETB.

Given this, a person living in county Tipperary may carry out their training in an ETB or other institution based outside of county Tipperary. Equally, a person living outside of county Tipperary may carry out their training in an ETB or other institution based in county Tipperary.

Each ETB cannot offer all programmes available and, as such, apprenticeship off-the-job training is provided on a national basis and not on a regional basis.

However, I can provide a breakdown in apprenticeships available from 2021 to date in 2024 along with corresponding capacity numbers for the ETB based in county Tipperary – Tipperary ETB (TETB).

Apprenticeship programmes offered by TETB between from 2021 to date in 2024 and corresponding capacity figures:

Apprenticeship Programme 2021 2022 2023 2024
Construction Plant Fitting 33 48 48 48
Electrical 105 168 182 210
Electronic Security Systems 21 28 28 28
Plumbing 42 56 84 84
