In 2021, Sláintecare Healthy Ireland in the Department of Health, working with the HSE and local authorities and community agencies, launched the Sláintecare Healthy Communities Programme (SHC) to provide increased health and wellbeing services in 19 community areas across Ireland. Each CHO has at least one SHC area, CHO 9 has three areas, Finglas/Cabra, Ballymun and Kilmore/Darndale. The overall contribution to Sláintecare Healthy Communities in CHO9, directly from the Department of Health to the Dublin City Council since the launch of the programme in 2021, is a total amount of €1.896m. This is detailed in the table below per area:

In 2021, the contribution included once-off enhancement funding for capital projects of €250,000 per area. Annually, the Department contributes to a Local Development Officer post within the local authority and seed funding for projects identified within the communities that improve health and wellbeing. This breakdown does not detail the funding for services that are provided via the HSE, which includes: Stop Smoking Advisors, We Can Quit, Parenting supports, Healthy Food Made Easy, Social Prescribing and Community Food and Nutrition Workers.
