The Department of Public Expenditure, National Development Plan and Reform's introduced 'Special Leave with Pay for COVID-19' (SLWP) for all civil and public sector employees with confirmed Covid-19 to assist in the prevention of the possible onward spread of Covid-19 in the work premises.
The duration of this leave type has been changed a number of times by DPENDPR since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic in March 2020, and presently applies for the public health guidance timeframe (currently 5 days stay at home).
For any civil or public health sector employee who remains unwell beyond the 5 days SLWP currently provided, the provisions of the Public Service Sick Leave Scheme may be utilised thereafter.
Both of these Schemes are under the remit of the DPENDPR and as such, I am not aware of any plans to review same.
