The forthcoming review of the UBU Your Place Your Space scheme will encompass all 16 ETBs and will consider, inter alia, how to address the situation of ETBs in receipt of lower annual funding allocations, including Laois and Offaly ETB.

A total of over €800,000 is being allocated to Laois Offaly ETB this year to support the provision of youth services in the area with over €420,000 is being allocated under the UBU Your Place Your Space scheme. An additional €255,000 has been allocated to Laois Offaly ETB to support youth services in 2024 under a number of once-off funding schemes to allow the ETB to address particular needs, and a further €130,000 has been allocated to Laois Offaly ETB under the ETB Youth Grant, to support the ETB in their role in co-ordinating and supporting youth services.

In addition, a mapping process is currently underway which will capture all youth services, both youth worker led, and volunteer led. The interactive map will integrate Census data and the Pobal deprivation index to identify gaps in youth service provision and enable my Department and stakeholders to develop proposals to expand youth service provision where necessary.
