I propose to take Questions Nos. 1131 to 1133, inclusive, together.

As the Deputy will be aware, the Garda Commissioner is responsible for the management and administration of An Garda Síochána. This includes all operational and investigative policing decisions. As Minister I have no role in these independent functions and cannot seek to direct the Commissioner in relation to such matters.

Further to this, all matters concerning accommodation for International Protection Applicants fall under the remit of my colleague the Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth.

I have been advised by the Garda authorities that they have no function on their financial system to determine the costs incurred for the policing of International Protection Accommodation Service (IPAS) sites specifically.

I am further advised that as, under Section 7 of the Garda Síochána Act 2005, the functions of An Garda Síochána include preserving peace and public order, protecting life and property and vindicating the humans rights of each individual, there are no plans to recoup any costs associated with providing policing operations at IPAS locations.

In relation to the location referred to by the Deputy, I have been provided with the cost of travel and subsistence for Garda members and members of the Public Order Unit by the Garda authorities related to the Garda presence at this location only.

Travel and Subsistence for Public Order Unit €14,561.55
Travel and Subsistence for Uniformed Members €9,809.21
Total Travel and Subsistence €24,370.76
Additional Costs
Refreshments €1,249.75

Information supplied is operational and subject to change. The Garda National Dog Unit was not deployed at this site and therefore no costs were incurred.
