My Department’s mission is to support sustainable development and vibrant communities through strategic planning, the sustainable and efficient delivery of well-planned homes, the sustainable management of our water resources, the nurturing of Ireland’s heritage, and effective local government.

Our mission is shaped by the 178 commitment items (CIs) from the Programme for Government for which my Department has primary responsibility. Implementation of my Department’s CIs is continuing across all of our functional areas with progress kept under regular review. Accordingly the status of the CIs are subject to continuous change. Overall monitoring of the implementation all CIs contained in the Programme for Government lies with the Department of the Taoiseach.

At present, of the 178 CIs under the remit of my Department, 31 CIs are complete. A further 146 are ongoing and are expected to be completed in the specified timeframe. 3 CIs have been delayed. Please see the following link for further details.
