Over 81,000 businesses have registered for the Increased Cost of Business Scheme. As of 6th September, €223 million has been paid to verified eligible businesses. The Scheme is now closed for registrations and Local Authorities are continuing to process payments once business details have been verified.

The parameters of this scheme required that businesses who were operating in a premises must be the rate payer.

The Local Authorities who administer the scheme on behalf of my Department do not collect statistics in relation to landlord tenancy rate paying businesses and there are no figures available as to the number of businesses who are landlords or tenants and were not eligible for the scheme.
