My Department does not currently operate any funding schemes that would specifically focus on the construction of new public horse stables as set out by the Deputy.
While the LEADER programme could be considered a possible avenue for this type of activity, the project must be undertaken within an area supported by the 2023 - 2027 LEADER programme, that is, all parts of Ireland with the exception of the five main cities of Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick and Waterford. As the Coolock and Darndale areas are within the boundaries of Dublin city, project proposals from those areas are ineligible for support under the LEADER programme.
The development, enhancement or refurbishment of community or cultural facilities is supported through the Community Recognition Fund. The fund aims to support community facilities in recognition of the contribution being made across the country in welcoming and hosting new arrivals to Ireland. Depending on the detail of the proposed project, the development of public stables may be eligible under the fund subject to meeting all of the relevant selection criteria.
Applications to the fund are being administered locally by the local authorities in each county. Accordingly, interested applicants may wish to contact Dublin City Council in the first instance to discuss their options in light of the full detail of their proposed project.
