Several Education and Training Boards offer Irish language classes and SOLAS has advised my officials that the cost for this provision in 2024 is some €350,000. As the Deputy has asked about the cost of hiring a full-time teacher, my officials have, for illustrative purposes only, estimated that the full-year cost of hiring a full-time teacher would be approx. €73,000 if we take the mid-point of the salary scale for post-primary teachers and applying employer’s PRSI costs.
