Currently there are 2,934 public beds available in University of Limerick with an additional 110 student beds available in Mary Immaculate College. A research report by Knight Frank in September 2023 on Student Housing in Ireland, indicates that there are 5,500 purpose built student accommodation beds in Limerick.

I can advise that there have been 159 student accommodation beds completed since 2017. Of these, 76 were private while 83 public beds were completed by UL and MIC in 2023. There are no additional student beds projected for delivery in Limerick prior to September.

In addition, 737 beds have been granted planning permission with a further 30 beds awaiting a planning decision.

Within digs accommodation, the latest supply figures indicate that there are approx. 290 beds available in the Limerick area.

My Department will continue to promote the rent-a-room scheme in advance of the upcoming academic year, to further increase supply of available beds through digs accommodation.
