2131.To ask the Minister for Health if he will provide an update on the committee being formed to review and inform the development of a national diabetes strategy; the terms of reference the committee will be guided by; the timeline for the completion of the committee's work and presentation to him; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Diabetes Policy and Services Review Steering Group, which is leading the Diabetes Policy and Services Review, includes representatives from the Department of Health, the Health Service Executive (HSE), and Diabetes Ireland.
A stakeholder group has also been established to support the work of the review. This group held their first meeting on the 3rd of July 2024. This group includes representatives from a wide range of medical and healthcare professions as well as patient advocates. It is anticipated that this stakeholder group will hold two further meetings in 2024.
The Steering Group will submit a report within six months of the commencement of their work. This report will include key findings, recommendations, and set of actions to improve service delivery and patient outcomes.

The Diabetes Policy and Services Review Steering Group includes representatives from the Department of Health, the Health Service Executive (HSE), and Diabetes Ireland.
The Diabetes Policy and Services Review is focused on the delivery of necessary health services for people with Diabetes. Private industries are not represented in the Diabetes Policy and Services Review Group, which includes physicians with experience across various aspects of diabetes care, nursing, general practice, psychology, public health, pharmacy, health and social care professionals, advocates and representatives from RetinaScreen and the National Office of Clinical Audit.
