I wish to acknowledge the concerns raised by both Ms O’Riordan and Ms Byrne in their recent correspondence, and I am now currently engaged with senior management in Children’s Disability Services within the HSE to understand and address the issues highlighted. I also wish to acknowledge and thank Ms O’Riordan and Ms Byrne for the work they have carried out over the last number of years on both the CDNT National Steering Group and more recently as parent representatives under the new PDS Roadmap governance structures. I have also asked my office to organise a meeting with Ms O’Riordan and Ms Byrne in the coming weeks.
The role of parent representatives is an extremely important one in the development of children’s disabilities services and the implementation of the PDS Roadmap, and both myself and Minister Rabbitte are appreciative of the time, effort and input of both parties on behalf of parents countrywide since 2022. I look forward to continuing parent representation under the Roadmap structures as its implementation progresses.
