Coillte is a private limited company established under the Forestry Act 1988, and is operationally independent from the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine.

The matter raised is an internal operational matter for Coillte. I have referred the matter to Coillte for direct follow-up with the Deputy.

For the Deputy's information, I would like to mention that Coillte does not receive an annual allocation of exchequer funding through my Department. However, Coillte has been eligible to apply for forestry grants in the same way as all other public bodies under the Forestry Programmes. In addition, under the Forestry Programme 2023-2027, which was launched in September 2023, Coillte is eligible to avail of Forestry premiums.
