The Social Welfare Appeals Office is an Office of the Department of Social Protection which is responsible for determining appeals against decisions in relation to social welfare entitlements. Appeals Officers are independent in their decision making functions.
I am advised by the Social Welfare Appeals Office that an Appeals Officer, having fully considered all of the available evidence, has decided to disallow the appeal in question by way of a summary decision. The person concerned was notified of the Appeals Officer’s decision by letter dated 15 July 2024.
An Appeals Officer’s decision is final and conclusive in absence of any fresh facts or evidence relevant at the date of application. However, if there has been a change in circumstances since the date of the original application, it is open to the person in question to reapply for Carer's Benefit.
