The EU Just Transition Fund (JTF) Community and Enterprise Grants Scheme is the second call under the Local and Regional Economic Strategies Support Scheme (LRESSS), designed to assist Local Authorities and their communities previously reliant on peat production to modernise and diversify their local economies. The LRESSS is funded through Ireland's EU Just Transition Fund (JTF) Programme.
The grant size for EU JTF Community Enterprise Grants is a minimum of €50,000 to a maximum of €300,000. The Community Enterprise Grant is subject to De Minimis Regulation (Commission Regulation (EU) No 1407/2013), meaning that the aid being sought is provided under the European Commission Regulation on De Minimis Aid. Under the Regulation, the ceiling is €300,000 for all de minimis aid provided to any one recipient over a 3-year period (or €100,000 for de minimis aid given to the road transport sector).
Small amounts of State Aid, up to €300,000 in any three-year period to any one enterprise, are regarded as too small to significantly affect trade or competition in the single market. Such amounts are regarded as falling outside the category of State Aid that is banned by the EC Treaty and can be awarded without notification to or clearance by the European Commission.
