As the Deputy is aware, the Digital Strategy for Schools to 2027 was published in April 2022 following an extensive consultation process involving schools, parents, learners, management bodies, and industry which assisted in the identification of key objectives and actions for inclusion in the Strategy. The Strategy continues to advance the embedding of digital technologies across teaching, learning and assessment, building on the work done under previous strategies. The Strategy works towards ensuring learners have the opportunities to develop their digital skills so that they can navigate the digital world in a confident and competent manner.
Work is underway on progressing the different elements of the strategy with many of the objectives being rolled out with various programmes, initiatives, and pilots underway as well as enhanced continued professional support for schools’ leaders and teachers in digital technology in education.
An implementation plan is being finalised and should be published shortly. This plan will contain more detail in relation to particular actions and associated timelines to further support schools in this important area.
