As the Deputy may be aware, the purpose of the Summer Works Scheme (SWS) is to enable individual school authorities to undertake small-scale building works on a devolved basis and, ideally, can be carried out during the summer months or at other times that avoid disrupting the operation of the school. The SWS operates on a multi-annual basis for categories of works such as roof works, window replacement, mechanical and electrical works, external works etc. and was last opened for applications in 2019. These applications were approved on a phased basis in 2020, 2021 and 2022.
My Department continue to work through these applications and funding was provided to the below schools in Kildare in 2024 under the current SWS.
County | Address | Roll No | School | Category | Funding Received (€) |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Kildare | Curragh | 18031K | Scoil Naisiunta Bride | Mechanical Works | 27,691.06 |
Kildare | Leixlip | 19459H | Scoil Mhuire | Windows | 113,221.10 |
Kildare | Leixlip | 19684O | Scoil Eoin Phoil | Windows | 57,340.07 |
Kildare | Newbridge | 61682A | Holy Family Secondary School | Science Labs (incl Gas Works) | 116,399.77 |
Kildare | Leixlip | 91371B | Leixlip Community School | Mechanical Works | 26,400.90 |
Due to the multi-annual nature of the SWS looking at annual funding figures in isolation does not provide an accurate indication of the levels of investment in an area under the SWS and it should be noted that since the first approvals under the current SWS in 2020, in excess of €5million has been provided to schools in Kildare.
