As requested by the Deputy, please see the following link showing projects for schools in Limerick which received initial approval in 2024.
Please note that there are other school building projects in Co Limerick at various stages of progress. The Department's website provides a list, by county, of all projects being progressed under the large scale and additional accommodation scheme. This is available here: www.gov.ie/en/collection/d73cb-building-works-for-the-construction-extension-and-refurbishment-of-schools/
The stage of architectural planning is included for each project on the website. The following provides a summary of what is involved at each stage:
Stage 1 – Preliminary Design. The Preliminary Design stage includes reviewing all information provided as part of the Project Brief, establishing and analysing all site factors and constraints which may impact on the project's viability.
Stage 2- Design(which is divided into Stage 2a - Developed Sketch Scheme and Stage 2b - Detailed Design). Stage 2a includes developing the design and accurately cost planning the options agreed with the Client to a stage where the project is fully cost planned and can be prepared to lodge for statutory approvals.
Stage 2b includes obtaining all statutory approvals, preparing a set of fully detailed tender documents, and preparing an accurate pre-tender cost plan.
Stage 3 - Tender Action, Evaluation and Awardis the procurement stage, which includes the implementation of the tender process, evaluation of tenders and award of the contract.
Stage 4 – Constructionrefers to the period during which the construction works are delivered on site. All members of the Design Team are collectively responsible for the effective management of the project in order to achieve its completion on time and within budget.
Stage 5 - Handover of Works and Final Accountrefers to the final stages of project close-out, after works have been completed.
