I propose to take Questions Nos. 607, 608 and 609 together.
Teaching Transforms is an annual campaign organised by my Department to promote the teaching profession. It encourages students to follow a career in teaching.
The aim of the campaign is to increase the supply of teachers, to increase the diversity of the teaching workforce and to encourage career changers to consider teaching as a profession. These promotional campaigns inform people that teaching is an exciting, diverse, rewarding and challenging career and signpost those interested in teaching to the different possible routes to becoming a teacher in Ireland.
Since 2018, the campaign has primarily focussed on digital, social, digital out-of-home advertising and radio. In recent years, the Department has collaborated with digital media outlets (as advised by our media buying agency) to devise the message to reach our younger demographic with content that is more suitable.
The current campaign for the CAO 2024 commenced in January 2024 with five teachers recording promotional material. The participants volunteer their time to feature in the promotional campaigns and do not receive remuneration for their participation in the recordings or the broadcast of the promotional clips. The material is produced in line with Teaching Council guidance and government guidelines on communications.
