The Design & Crafts Council Ireland (DCCI) promotes the commercial development of Irish designers and makers, stimulating innovation, championing design thinking, and informing Government policy. Its activities are funded by the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment through Enterprise Ireland (EI). A Service Level Agreement (SLA) is in place between EI and the DCCI. This provides the framework for agreement of service levels and performance management in respect of the funding provided by EI on behalf of DETE to the Design and Crafts Council Ireland.
The total expenditure allocated to the Design and Crafts Council of Ireland by the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment through Enterprise Ireland for the past five years is as follows.
- | 2019 | 220 | 2021 | 2022 | 2023 |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Core | €2.9m | €2.9m | €2.9m | €3.9m | €3.9m |
Other | €0.1m | €0.7m | €1.7m | €0.7m | €0.5m |
This funding is used by DCCI to initiate new programmes under it's 5-year strategy (2022-2026). The DDCI‘s longer term strategic plan will focus on building capacity and further growth in the craft and design sectors as a constituent part of our enterprise base. The design and craft sector play a vital role in our economy, providing sustainable jobs right across the country and contributes to our culture of enhancing Ireland’s international reputation for excellence in design and craftsmanship.
