As Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment I, along with Minister Calleary, Minister Higgins and officials across the Department, engage on a regular basis with the European Commission and its officials on important policy areas such as the Single Market, Competitiveness, State Aid, Trade, Industry and Digital. This is particularly important in relation to the current EU Commission's priorities on the twin climate and digital transition and how this may impact our national enterprise policy. Officials in my Department also engage with the Commission through working parties, trilogues, and on the notification of the transposition of directives where my Department has legislative responsibility.

It is also worth noting that as we approach Ireland's Presidency of the European Council in the latter half of 2026, the level of engagement with the European Commission and other European bodies will increase significantly.
