The Health and Safety Authority staff serving in inspector grades operate across each of the Authority’s legislative mandates which include occupational health, occupational safety, chemicals, accreditation and market surveillance of products. Staff serving in inspector grades may also be involved in either inspection, investigation, or policy implementation at national, European and international level.
The majority of the Authority’s inspectors are Grade III which is the starting grade for new entrants. The salary scale for a Grade III inspector corresponds with the Civil Service Engineer Grade III and Professional Accountant Grade III scale.
The cost of employing thirty additional inspectors at Grade III level, including salary and employer PRSI is approximately €1,239,660 in their first year.
Grade | Salary | PRSI | Total Cost One (1) Post (Salary + PRSI) | Total Cost Thirty (30) Posts |
---|---|---|---|---|
Inspector Grade III | €37,211 | €4,111 | €41,322 | €1,239,660 |
Assumptions
- Figures based on starting point of the relevant grade for all positions.
- Provision included for Employer PRSI calculated at 11.05%.
- Costs are exclusive of recruitment and onboarding costs.
