103. To ask the Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment if he and his officials in the inland fisheries division fully support the untenable position of Inland Fisheries Ireland potentially prosecuting anglers for harvesting pink salmon (oncorhynchus gorbuscha) from Irish waterways without a valid salmon licence, notwithstanding that he recently stated that pink salmon are an invasive alien species; and if he will make a statement on the matter. There is currently no specific legal requirement under the Wild Salmon and Sea Trout Tagging Scheme Regulations, for anglers or commercial fishermen to tag or report Pink salmon (Oncorhynchus gorbuscha) caught. Therefore, the issue of prosecution does not arise.
