The legislation regarding the collection, transportation and disposal of Animal By-Products (which includes dead horses) is set out in Regulation (EC) No 1069/2009 and Regulation (EC) No 142/2011. My Department has also set out a number of conditions which registered operators need to comply with. Below is the link to the conditions that relate to registered transporters of Animal By-Products.

In relation to your query referring to a recent incident in a regional town, I would appreciate if you could supply any specific information you have relating to the incident to my Department so that the matter can be reviewed, with a view to further action, if necessary.
