I have introduced a Succession Planning Advice Grant which is a scheme specifically aimed at encouraging best practice in intergenerational land transfer in order to address, among other things, significant generational imbalances in farming.
The grant is to encourage and support farmers aged 60 years and above to seek succession planning advice by contributing up to 50% of vouched legal, accounting and advisory costs, subject to a maximum payment of €1,500.
The scheme requirements are as follows:
- The applicant must be 60 years of age or older at time of application for reimbursement.
- The applicant must be farming a minimum of 3 hectares of land at the time of application for reimbursement.
- The applicant must be farming for a minimum of 2 years prior to application for reimbursement.
- The advice must be sought from an accredited professional registered with the one or more of the institutions listed in the terms and conditions.
- Applications must be accompanied by documentary evidence that the applicant is 60 years of age or older at time of application and proof of payment for advisory service(s) from an accredited professional as outlined above.
