Following an extensive site identification and assessment exercise, to identify a permanent site location for Mary Immaculate Secondary School in Lisdoonvarna, Co. Clare a number of site options were identified and investigated by the Department in conjunction with officials from Clare County Council. A preferred option has now been identified.

The Department has now commenced the process to undertake a detailed appraisal of the preferred site option with a view to pursuing a potential acquisition, subject to technical suitability, agreement on terms and legal due diligence.

The Deputy will appreciate that commercial sensitivities attach to site acquisitions such as this and I am not currently in a position to disclose further information.

The site acquisition process is complex and subject to completion of successful negotiation and conveyancing processes. Therefore, given the complexities involved it is not possible to give a definitive timeframe for the completion of the acquisition but the Department will endeavour to bring the process to a conclusion as soon as possible.
