Enabling children with special educational needs to receive an education is a priority for this Government. It is also a key priority for my department and for the National Council for Special Education (NCSE).
The NCSE have confirmed that the school applied for an exceptional review of its special needs assistant (SNA) allocation in October. This review was processed and the school received an increase to their allocation of 1.5 posts.
The school has since submitted an appeal which is currently being processed. The NCSE have been in contact with the school and expects to have the appeal concluded this week. The school will be notified of the outcome of the appeal without delay.
