481. To ask the Minister for Health the actions his Department is taking to tackle the lack of beds at Letterkenny University Hospital; to provide, in tabular form, the number of patients who were unable to access a bed from January 2024 to June 2024; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Since 2020, 22 new, additional beds have been opened at Letterkenny University Hospital. Bed numbers have increased from 356 in 2020 to 378 in 2024. Under our hospital bed expansion plan a total of 122 new and replacement beds will be delivered at Letterkenny University Hospital by 2031. This includes 50 new and replacement beds delivered between 2021-2024 and 72 beds committed to be delivered between 2029-2031.As the number of patients unable to access a bed from January 2024 to June 2024 at Letterkenny University Hospital is a service matter, I have asked the Health Service Executive to respond to the deputy directly, as soon as possible.
