Ensuring the welfare and safety of residents is secured is of the utmost importance, and work to alleviate the concerns of residents, their families and staff continues to be a priority during this difficult time. The HSE was notified on Thursday 16th May 2024 by the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA), that HIQA had cancelled the registration of Lucan Lodge Nursing Home with the agreement of the Directors of Passage Healthcare International (Ireland) Limited, who was the registered provider of Lucan Lodge Nursing Home. Since 10am on Friday 17th May, the HSE, in accordance with its statutory requirement under Section 64 of the Health Act 2007, is required to take charge of the nursing home and carry on its business as if it were still registered, pending alternative arrangements. The HSE are very conscious of the speed of this change and the urgency with which the HSE was required to take charge and acknowledge that this is a concern for residents, families and staff. The main priority for the HSE at this time is to ensure that care being provided by the existing care team at Lucan Lodge continues, and that the HSE support the ongoing needs of the residents.
As part of its ongoing assessment, the HSE is currently assessing the nursing home and is engaging with all relevant parties to explore all options. The HSE has commenced engaging with residents, their nominated contacts and staff.
The continuity of care to residents supported by the existing care team at Lucan Lodge remains our highest priority.
